RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Grant funded research into feasibility for a new principle for microphone design

Confidential research into a new, non contact microphone/transducer
Innovative wireless microphone reaches out to the digital world

dB Tech is a company at the leading edge of audio development. It’s specialty is in producing the latest digital Pro Audio designs for some of the most prestigious companies in the music world.

With the help of a recently won Research & Development grant from the Department of Trade & Industry, dB Tech are undertaking a project to research the possibilities of an innovative method of converting acoustic signals directly to the digital domain.

The proposed new microphone, with its direct wireless digital interface will not compromise on quality. This research could result in a new breed of microphone that allows many exciting new applications, for example;

An affordable, high quality, wireless acoustic instrument pickup. This would free the musician from the cables that the current generation of similarly priced pickups require.

A conferencing or TV show microphone that can simply be pointed at a distant member of the audience to allow them to be heard as clearly as if they were holding a conventional microphone.

This new acoustic technology would allow dB Tech to open up an exciting range of commercially viable products that could impact on the audio industry in the not too distant future.

Tuning in world wide

dB Tech Ltd of Buxton is developing an exciting new product aimed at top guitarists in the music industry.  All musicians - even Eric Clapton have to manually tune their guitars, which can be very inconvenient in the middle of a live concert. However, with the pioneering invention of a device that automatically tunes an electric guitar to a faultless pitch, musicians will never be out of tune again.
“We’re delighted to be working on this innovative project”, said Andréa Lewis of dB Tech, “ Audio is our specialty and this design also has great potential for spawning other music related gadgets for the industry.”
The Buxton company is working closely with the inventors of this new idea, which has already caught the interest of top manufacturers around the world. The famous Fender Stratocaster and Yamaha range of guitars are waiting to be the first to feature the new technology.
dB Tech Ltd specialises in leading edge electronic design, which includes robotics, professional audio equipment and bespoke control systems. Further information from their website www.dbtech.co.uk or contact the office on 01298 25281
